As we start the 2026-27 season, we would like to thank all members, families and supporters of TSC and our four sports sections for your continued support and patience as we progress the final phases of our club development project - Project 18, our next major investment of over £700k into the clubhouse, bar and wider facilities. To find out more and full details please download the attached Club Development Update (march 2026).
As with any project of this size, there’s been a lot happening behind the scenes with the tender process, surveys, project cost management and funding to bring the whole project together to start work hopefully May / June subject to contractor availability. Our plan was to be in a position to start work by end of March 2026, but this has been slightly delayed. The Club Development Update (download full version) is intended to give a clear update on where we are up to, why things have taken slightly longer than planned, funding and what happens next including how you can support the project. The work planned for 2026 will be split into two distinct contracts; The building contract to be followed by the internal refurbishment.
The project team has been working through the details with contractors and advisors to refine the scope and bring costs back in line with what is affordable for the Club. This has included reviewing specifications, phasing options and value engineering elements of the build. This is progressing well and we are aiming to appoint a lead contractor in the next couple of weeks, finalise contract details and subject to contractor availability start work by mid-May. This would push up back c. 6 weeks against the planned start date.
Funding the investment
We have made good progress on the financials and work to finalise the budgetting and funding for what is a major development project and investment for the club. The full Update shares details of external grant and loan funding that we've secured in the last couple of weeks and the work our section committees, chairs and Board have done to create and agree a fundraising plan to raise £100,000 needed, along with our Reserves, to complete the project. The good news is that we're well on the way towards this target with nearly £28,552 raised already, including from the last years Auction, plus a comined £10,000 committed by our four sports sections and a further gift aid claim to submit that will go towards the project. This will take us to just over £50,000.
As part of creating a fair, equitable and achievable funding model, and as a direct result of working with section committees, chairs and the Board, it was agreed to introduce a one off member development contribution for all members in 2026/27 and that for ease of collection and payment that this will be added your TSC subscriptions and collected through the online system – including the option to pay by installments.
The agreed one-off member development contribution payable in 2026/27 season is:
• £18 for adult members (equivalent of £1.50 a month)
• £12 for junior members (equivalent of £1 a month)
This is expected to contribute around £20,000 towards the project and with a further £30,000 targetted to be raised from a community share offer and donations this will make a major contribution to hitting our £100,000 target.
We know times are hard for some and would remind everyone that we do consider individual circumstances and hardship and assist where we can. Overall we feel that a relatively small contribution from all members is fair way to raise funds for the project that all will have the opportunity to benefit from. As a member owned community benefit society, this approach was agreed as a fair way to share the cost of investment across the Club and its membership.
If you are interested in making a larger donation and or finding out more about community shares please do get in touch info@timperley-sports.com
