Project 18 Update: Next Phase of the Clubhouse Redevelopment Begins

Project 18 Update: Next Phase of the Clubhouse Redevelopment Begins

Sam Brooks8 Jul - 11:03

Temporary changes to the bar service as we continue investing in the future of Timperley Sports Club.

The new clubhouse extension is starting to take shape and after a couple of delays early on due to unforeseen problems and weather, the building work is gathering pace. The new roof is scheduled to arrive in the next week or so and work will shift towards two of the biggest aspects of the refurbishment: a new cellar and the new commercial kitchen.

Temporary Changes To The Bar Service (12th to 23rd July 2026)

One of the key elements of Project 18 is replacing our existing cellar with a modern, more efficient system that will improve reliability, beer quality and the overall operation of the bar for many years to come. Unfortunately, this isn't as simple as swapping a few pumps over.

The existing cellar needs to be completely stripped out, including removing the current pumps, beer lines, cooling equipment and even breaking out the existing concrete floor to make some changes to the drainage.

This means that between Sunday 12th July and Thursday 23rd July (inclusive), we will operate a bottle bar service only. Unfortunately there will be no draught ales, lager, cider, Guinness and draught soft drinks, whilst the new dispensing and cooling system is installed.

We appreciate this isn't ideal, particularly during the summer, it is unavoidable.

Our aim is to get the new system and all draught products up and running on Friday 24th July.

The Bar Will Remain Open

Although we won't be able to serve draught products during this period, the clubhouse will remain open as normal with a full bottled and canned drinks offering available throughout.

Jane, Colin and the team will be doing everything they can to minimise disruption and continue providing the best possible service while the work is taking place.

We'd like to thank everyone in advance for their understanding while we complete this important stage of the project.

Kitchen Works Also Underway

Work on the club's new commercial kitchen will also commence during the same period.

This marks another significant milestone for the club and will eventually provide the club with a modern kitchen capable of supporting an expanded food offering for members, visitors, functions and events.

The kitchen works are expected to continue beyond the completion of the new cellar, so whilst we're hopeful of opening the new kitchen shortly afterwards, we haven’t quite got that date confirmed as of yet.

As such, there will be no bar food service from 8th July until mid-August when the kitchen installation is completed.

We'll keep you updated as the project progresses and will let everyone know as soon as we have confirmed timescales.

Thank You for Your Continued Support

Every stage of Project 18 is an investment in the future of the club and one that will better serve our members, sections and wider community for many years to come.

We know the next couple of weeks will involve a little inconvenience, but the improvements being delivered will make a huge difference to the club long after the work is complete.

The next phase of work will be the tender for the bar and function room refurbishment and the operational planning, once the pricing and final design agreed, for the work to be undertaken and again we will plan in to minimise operational disruption when this happens in the Autumn.

Thank you once again for your patience and continued support.
