Sad News

It is with great sadness that we have to convey the news that our friend and colleague, Tim Lucas, has passed away after a long illness.

Tim and his wife Carol moved into the area in the late 1970’s and Tim has been an ever-active member of the club ever since. As his two sons began to play cricket Tim took a step back from his playing role and began to focus on the foundation of our still thriving junior cricket programme. Tim’s desire to encourage youngsters into cricket whilst placing a particular emphasis on both development and enjoyment is the reason why the Cricket Section exists as it does today.

Throughout his 40 year membership of the Club, Tim has held nearly every office available ranging from voluntary Groundsman through to Sports Development Chair and Honorary Secretary. His passion and dedication for both the Club and its members was immeasurable, and his absence will be felt deeply by all sections. It is “clubmen” such as Tim who serve as the lifeblood for volunteer based clubs such as ours, and his contributions will not be forgotten.

More recently, Tim was the architect for the initial funding bid which has allowed Timperley to install state of the art drainage across both grass pitches, including two brand new cricket wickets which will continue to strengthen the section long into the future.

Tim leaves behind his wife Carol, as well as children Neil, Matt and Hannah, all of whom have our sincerest condolences.

The funeral will take place at 1pm at St James’ Church in Didsbury, with the reception afterwards back at Timperley from 2:30pm. We hope to see as many members attending as possible, to truly celebrate Tim’s life and all he has given to the club.
